#aavanmerentuollapuolen, eli Kaikilla muilla on kuitenkin hienompaa

#beyondtheopensea, or Everyone else’s life is probably much more glorious.

The freeform chamber larp takes its name from the iconic Finnish tango Satumaa, which is about longing for a distant land beyond the sea – a happy paradise – which the narrator can only reach in their thoughts. It deals with FOMO and the effects of social media on people, and it is inspired by Chechovian melancholy as well as the times we are living in. It examines the nagging feeling that everyone else is living a shinier life than you, and to counter that you need to keep up an artificial image of your life through posting continuous updates on social media.

The larp is for six participants, social media is represented by a deck of cards and the piece is divided into three acts, each of which had it’s own quote from the play Three sisters by Anton Chechov.
